Our Regulated Status and Regulated Activity

EQWIRE is an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) authorised, regulated and supervised by the Financial Conduct Authority (EQWIRE UK Limited, the firm reference number 901100). EQWIRE provides its operations in partnership with the Modulr group of companies (Modulr FS Limited and Modulr FS Europe Limited) for the following regulated activities:

1. Issuance of electronic money and offering of e-money accounts in the UK.

2. Distribution of electronic money and e-money accounts in the European Union (EU) and acting as an agent of Modulr FS Europe Limited in the EU.

Modulr, an EQWIRE partner, is duly authorised and regulated as an EMI by the Financial Conduct Authority in the UK (Modulr FS Ltd, firm reference number: 900573) and by the Central Bank of Netherlands (De Nederlandsche Bank) in the EU.EQWIRE harnesses its technology and partnerships to offer its customers accounts with a full range of services for both international and domestic payments, such as:

• sort codes

• BACS

• Iraq

• CHAPS

• Faster Payments

• Euro IBANs

• SEPA

• SWIFT transfers

EQWIRE’s portal represents a digital interface that enables its customers to open electronic money accounts and access their accounts and associated services. Through this service and interface, the customer can instruct and operate additional functionality in relation to their electronic money accounts. Both EQWIRE and Modulr designed their platforms with security at the core. This means multi-factor authentication, fraud prevention, activity monitoring, and regular penetration testing.

For data protection purposes, both EQWIRE and Modulr are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office as independent data controllers. EQWIRE’s registration reference number is ZA805830. Modulr’s registration reference number is ZA183098.
